ROTATOR is a creative studio of artists, designers and creatives rooted in Tacoma, specializing in building communities. We believe that the creative mindset can transform problems into new paths and ideas into real world solutions. Our key focus is to create community—that may be achieved with a dynamic logo which a team can rally around, or it may be by creating environments that are more inclusive and inviting through activities such as public art commissions.
We have a saying around here, “Everything is Figureoutable” (thanks Marie Forleo)—what this means for us is that we have confidence that we can keep exploring and find the right design, refine a pretty good idea to a great one, or learn new and complex skills as we make the thing.
We’re looking for someone who thinks like us but not necessarily the same as us—someone who explores, creates, refines, and holds ideas with an open hand. We’re looking for someone who enjoys using their creativity to solve problems for others, especially the important ones. You’ll be a good fit here if you enjoy the creative process, excel at collaborating with others, and aren’t afraid to try new things or toss out a good idea for a better one.
We believe that our work as creatives is important, and we strive to create opportunities for others to create fulfilling work as a part of a fulfilling life. We have a studio in downtown Tacoma where we brainstorm on a giant wall-sized whiteboard, create or test ideas and mockups, stand at our desks to create design explorations or final deliverables, listen to music on vinyl or stream, make pour over coffee or take a beer break, throw some darts while we throw out ideas. We also work remotely when needed—in the age of Zoom we want to use tech wisely — not be consumed by it. We believe that great ideas are most often sparked in person but in-person is not the only way good creative work is born.
